Another day filled with to many things to write down. Taps is playing right now, so I don't have long. I went with Seth and Kevin again today to see the Coast Guard and Conservation areas.
After a 6:00 AM 5K run, which was held on a road surrounding the lake used for swimming, patrols broke off to make breakfast, Cheerios. Seth, Kevin, and I left at about 9:30 and headed off to the Coast Guard area.
At every area, scouts need their ID Tag to participate in the event. Seth forgot his ID tag, but did not realize this until we were almost to the Coast Guard area. It was about 10:30 by the time we finally got there.
The Coast Guard area was filled with demonstrations regarding what the Coast Guard does. We learned about law enforcement and search and rescue operations. We ended the experience with a test, and we all received patches.
There was a lunch kiosk right near there, so we went to grab lunch. I forgot to explain it in past posts, so this is how lunch works: You have a ticket for lunch every day. You walk up to the table, and give them the day's ticket. Then, they give you a bag full of your lunch. Yes, it's that simple!
We also attended the conservation area, which was about a mile trail fulled up with different conservation activities. We saw snakes and fish, learned about fixing problems with our water, and even learned about the anatomy of a turkey!
We were late for dinner, but we had a great time. Dinner was hamburgers, and afterwards, I finished cleaning my tent from the rain yesterday and wrote the blog.
